Embark on a sailing adventure from Martinique to Dominica, starting in the picturesque capital of Fort-de-France. Keep an eye out for the renowned dolphin family that resides in these waters as you cruise along the coast. Your first destination is St. Pierre, a city rich in history marked by the devastating volcanic eruption of 1902. Northern Martinique offers diverse landscapes, from volcanic black sand beaches to lush rainforests with hidden waterfalls and scenic hiking trails. Dive into the vibrant underwater world of coral reefs teeming with tropical fish in a myriad of colors.
Experience the natural wonderland of Dominica, aptly named the "Nature Island" of the Caribbean, following a roughly five-hour voyage. Near Roseau lies Champagne Bay, where volcanic activity creates a one-of-a-kind snorkeling experience in a natural hot spring. Explore the enchanting Trafalgar Falls, trek through the verdant rainforest to the mysterious Boiling Lake, or unwind in volcanic hot springs. The awe-inspiring Titou Gorge offers a memorable swimming escapade surrounded by towering cliffs. Venture to the northern region of Dominica, close to Portsmouth, and immerse yourself in a world of pirates. Embark on a boat excursion along the Indian River to relive scenes reminiscent of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" films. Interactions with the friendly locals will leave a lasting impression.
Continue your journey to Marie-Galante, renowned for its endless sandy beaches and secluded coves, offering the quintessential Caribbean experience.
Conclude your voyage in Les Saintes, a charming archipelago south of Guadeloupe. Uncover the history of the islands by exploring Napoleonic fortresses and tranquil bays where you may spot sea turtles in their natural habitat. This sailing expedition promises a harmonious blend of nature, history, and Caribbean allure.
This sailing trip also starts in Fort-de-France, the charming capital of Martinique, making it easy to combine a multi-week sailing trip with different destinations from the sailing tour to the north and south.
The first stop on Martinique is Anse Noire bay, a hidden gem in the south of the island. Here, a unique snorkeling experience awaits in caves and canyons surrounded by a diverse underwater world.
The next day, we set sail towards St. Lucia. Along the way, we pass the impressive Diamond Rock, a 175-meter high basalt rock jutting out of the sea. Its history dates back to the Napoleonic era when it was used as a natural fortress against French ships.
St. Lucia: Between Beaches and Volcanoes
Upon arriving at Rodney Bay, we are greeted by long sandy beaches and the typical Caribbean vibe. En route to Soufrière, there is an opportunity to explore two shipwrecks in snorkeling depth - a fascinating underwater experience. Soufrière, the former capital of St. Lucia, is nestled in the shadow of the majestic Pitons. This UNESCO World Heritage site offers excellent hiking and climbing opportunities. A visit to the volcano and a relaxing dip in the hot sulfur springs complete the nature experience.
St. Vincent: Waterfalls and Volcanoes
The approximately five-hour crossing to St. Vincent takes you to an island full of contrasts. In the north, impressive waterfalls amidst lush jungle landscapes await. The still active volcano La Soufrière offers adventurers the opportunity for an exciting climb.
Return Journey via St. Lucia and Martinique
On the way back from Chateaubelair, the southernmost point of our journey, we make a stopover in the picturesque Marigot Bay in St. Lucia. This bay, often referred to as one of the most beautiful in the Caribbean, offers a protected anchorage and breathtaking views. Back on Martinique, the golden beaches of Salines in the south of the island await. Le Marin, a popular marina, and the charming fishing village of Sainte-Anne are our last stops before returning to Fort-de-France.
This sailing trip offers a perfect mix of natural wonders, historical sites, and the Caribbean way of life. From volcanic landscapes to crystal-clear coves to vibrant coastal towns - each day brings new, unforgettable impressions. The flexibility of sailing allows us to adjust the route according to weather conditions and personal preferences, ensuring we make the most of our Caribbean adventure.
